Admob eCPM in India

For those who do not know me, I built a multi-lingual crosswords app (Indic Crosswords) for Indians and I sometimes blog about it. You can try out the app here. I’m looking for someone who can partner with me on the marketing front and take the app to the next level!

I recently started showing banner, interstitial and rewarding ads within the app, and below are the earnings from Indian users for the last 30 days.

If you are planning to build an app targeting Indian users, and if your primary source of revenue is through ads — take a closer look at the above numbers and figure out the volume of DAUs you must be aiming for in order to generate decent revenue. All the best :)

Also, I have a few users from foreign countries and notice the eCPMs from the USA.

The eCPMs of the USA are more than 10x of India’s! I wish all my users were from the USA!

To conclude, I personally think the ad revenue from the Indian users is very low and the only way I can make any financial sense of this project is to market the app more and play the volume game.
